37 Cents is written by young writers who think they’re right. We take pitches from anyone in their teens and twenties with an interesting argument. No prior publication experience required.
We care about your argument, not your resume. If you have an idea you believe is worth sharing, reach out.
Contributors write one piece at a time with no ongoing obligation. Editors work on a section regularly and help shape what runs in it. Most have written before and edit the way they’d want to be edited.
Most pieces run 1,200 to 3,000 words, though this is not a hard constraint. We don’t publish breaking news, press releases, or anything written by a language model.
A good pitch does three things: names the argument in a sentence, says why it’s wrong or under-argued elsewhere, and says what evidence backs it up.
Send a pitch, about 200 words, along with anything you've written before. Full drafts are welcome but not expected. If we like your idea, you’ll hear back in two weeks. If you have not heard back after that, feel free to take your pitch elsewhere.
