Write For Us

37 Cents is written by people who would be arguing about this anyway. We take pitches from anyone who can make a case and defend it — no masthead title, prior bylines, or connections required.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Writers with a position and the patience to argue it properly. We care much more about the quality of the reasoning than about credentials, and we would rather run a sharp piece from a first-time writer than a safe one from a familiar name.

Contributors write one piece at a time with no ongoing obligation. Editors work on a section regularly and help shape what runs in it — if you want to move from contributing to editing, say so and we will talk.

WHAT WE PUBLISH

Essays and argument across four sections: Policy, Geopolitics, Ideas, and Culture. Most pieces run between 1,200 and 3,000 words. We do not publish breaking news, press releases, or writing produced primarily by a language model.

The strongest pitches name the argument in a sentence, say why it is wrong-headed or under-argued elsewhere, and indicate what evidence you would bring.

HOW TO SUBMIT

Send a pitch of roughly 150 words along with anything you have written before. Full drafts are welcome but not expected. We try to respond within two weeks; if you have not heard back after that, a nudge is fair game.
